Dan & Lauren (pictured with their two loves) met at Oregon State University, but following graduation, moved to New York. Out of their long list of "farm wedding venues in Oregon," they chose Fiala Farms as their #weddingdestination which allowed ample room for all of their family and friends without making them travel to the other side of the country. Many of their guests opted to stay in downtown Portland, where they were greeted with a shuttle bus that the couple rented for the evening. The couple also hired some of their favorite #local #PDXvendors, which included Hammie The Photo Booth, Pips Original Donuts, Tight Tacos, Up 'N Smoke BBQ Pit, and Salt & Straw to name a few.

HISTORY
Fiala Farms, founded by Jerry and Lucy Fiala, traces its roots back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire city of Kutna Hora, located southeast of Prague in today's Czech Republic. Although their families emigrated separately in the 1880s, a twist of fate reunited them at the Bohemian Club in 1896 in Portland, Oregon. The couple, blessed with three children (of whom two survived), embarked on their agricultural journey in 1906 when they acquired the farm.
From its inception, the Fialas engaged in a diverse range of farming activities over the past 113 years. Jerry and Lucy established a modest dairy operation, supplying milk and cream to an Oregon City Creamery. Concurrently, they cultivated cabbage for the Portland Farmers Market, while grain, hay, and silage served as the backbone to sustain their family farm. Notably, during the challenging times of the Great Depression, Jerry Jr. introduced the first wheeled tractor to the entire region. He cultivated wheat, oats, and various grains for both domestic use and sale.
In the 1960s, Jerry Jr. and his wife Nellie pioneered a successful pole bean operation, eventually selling the produce to a cannery in Sherwood. Transitioning into the 1970s, the family shifted their focus to row crops, supplying Safeway and Fred Meyer warehouses on a wholesale basis. Today, Fiala's Farm boasts a thriving variety of fruits and vegetables available for purchase at the Farm Stand. The legacy of farming excellence continues with the active involvement of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations of the Fiala Family, who are dedicated to perpetuating and expanding the farming operations for future generations.
TODAY
Fiala Farms continues to be a working farm, growing all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables (as well as pretty flowers!). They take great care in their produce and only select the very best for their farm stand and do not use animal based fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. In addition, numerous events are held there each year, including The Stafford Family Fest, Anual Fiala Farms Corn Maze, summer time Field & Vine Dinner Series, and of course, weddings.
